Winter words

Caught

I found a poem

caught

in a tree

fluttering

like a leaf,

struggling

to fly

free

Oh kite

of many colours,

You strayed

into the season

of stark

You must wait now

for the season

of flight

when the light

returns

and greening

loosens

all ties

Flutter

kite,

and wait

for the ring

of spring.

Oh, Juliet, it is so very lovely to find a poem “caught in a tree”. Such a moment of hope in the bleakness of the winter season.
Here, we are having an odd summer, much like the other seasons this year – but, everything is very green, though flowers aren’t quite in full bloom yet as it has been rather cool.

Penny, I’m so glad you enjoyed the caught poem. I know you always discover things when you are out and about too. I hope the flowers bloom for you soon; it sounds quite late, but maybe something glorious is in store.

Dear Juliet, what a refreshing and delightful poem…..and what a powerful image….. so stark indeed. What powerful physical responses such a post brings up… the power of metaphor is immense indeed. i see your suggestion that one/i might like to join the group and it looks very tempting and yet i find myself as stark as that caught kite….. i drove through auckland last night returning from a job and all that clutter and noise and busyness and consuming…. and i think ‘it’s a death wish’ We are all caught up in a blind death wish, refusing to see. I love the idea of ritual to appease the despair, and it brings tears to my eyes, but i am such a complete defeatist and cynic at heart now, that i doubt that i would feel that i belonged there….. i am happy and i am creatively engaged and absorbed by beauty and colour and the garden BUT it feels like we are living in borrowed time, and who wants to talk about the end of the world… one feels like such a party pooper. There, that was a huge share, triggered by your poem….thank you… i could take better care of myself and have my own little support group/ritual of one! sigh.

Evelyn, thank you so much for your heart felt response. It’s always a challenge, balancing the painful things with the beauty. Blessings to you.

Hi Juliet – poor kite and small kid losing it high in the tree … it will wander free, yet be damaged forever. Your winter is now moving forward, our summer is now going down … and yes we are in gloom (misty) again today … the English summer!! Cheers Hilary

Hilary yes, one wonders whose kite it was . . . I hope your summer finds its blossoming time. Thanks for dropping in and leaving a comment from the northern hemisphere.

I liked this poem, Juliet. What a sad winter season! I’m pleased we’re in summer, but it’s a calendar time because the temps are cool and a few sunny days like it’s spring now.
    Your photos are stunning!
