When you lose your footing
May the earth hold you

Earth, water, air, fire
Eternal elements, bringing life
Solstice fullness, solstice sun
Bless you always, every one.
Whether you are opening to the fullness of summer light or seeding a new cycle in the winter dark, may you be renewed, sustained, and strengthened as the wheel of the year turns at solstice.
My gift to you
Each summer, I make a solstice mandala from nature’s offerings. It is my gift to you.
This year, the crunch of the sand and a scatter of pōhutukawa flower heads on the morning beach brought brightness into the approach to solstice. As my granddaughters ran around, practised balancing on tree branches, and jumping down to soft sand, I felt hope springing in with their happy sounds.
May the coming year be a better and brighter one for you. My blessing this year is a reminder that the elements of nature are always there for you, ready to offer reminders of new life.
Thank you to all those who have sent words of appreciation for my rich harvest of 2022, in the form of two new books: The Pomegranate Journal and The Persimmon Journal.
